Dugout Dick emerges from a long hibernation

Over twenty years ago, filmmaker and artist Harrod Blank and I paid a visit to a hermit living in self-fashioned caves, along the banks of the Salmon River in Idaho. "Dugout Dick" found a way to eke out a unique way of life on an old mining claim.

We finally finished what we set out to do: to document a vanishing way of life. Dick is long gone and so are all but one of his caves. But, I'm pleased to announce our film is finally getting out in the world, starting with the Big Sky Documentary Film Festival this past February. Stay tuned! I'll post news about future festival screenings here.
